Heba Sketches

Description

For those of you who don't know, Heba is the ancient Egyptian AU version of Yugi.

He's usually depicted in the fandom as either Pharaoh Atem's brother or lover.

It seems that in any depiction of him, he's either the practically invisible meek little brother or an ex slave given as a peace gift to the Pharaoh. Basically, he hardly has a back bone.

I see him quite differently.

Warning: head canon fandom time.

I think of Heba as a normal citizen of Egypt who lives on the outskirts closer to the Nile.
Long story short, the Pharaoh's court sends out word they they have need for a personal scribe for the king and many individuals try, are tested, and fail.
Heba however passes the first test and moves on to the second and final one. Upon entering the court, there's quite an awkward moment of silence as everyone realizes just how spooky similar the two look. Heba gets tested by the Pharaoh himself and succeeds and becomes his personal scribe and scroll keeper.

I feel like he would still be fairly humble and good natured like modern day Yugi with maybe a tad bit of humor reserved for particularly rude individuals he must deal with.

That is basically like, every fanfic I ever did read about anything relating to Yugi and Ancient Egypt. Lol. Now that I think about it, I didn't realize it was such a cliche until you pointed it out. I prefer your take on it.
